Eagles of Death Metal/Rye CoalitionSome Dave Grohl character produced Rye Coalition's fourth shot at rock 'n' roll supremacy. But Curses (Gern Blandsten) doesn't smell like teen spiritmore like the locker room after Johnny won the big game and wanted to celebrate with cheap beers, the cheerleading squad and some riff-centric AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and GF-fuckin'-R (that'd be Grand Funk Railroad). As for Eagles of Death Metal, their latest LP was recorded in 12 days by impromptu drummer Josh Homme, who just so happens to be the only constant Queen in Queens of the Stone Agethe stoner-approved monster of rock Dave Grohl once drummed for. The Eagles also specialize in boogie nights of desanitized rock 'n' roll, as evidenced in the recently released Death By Sexy (Downtown). It nearly validates the asinine facial hair of frontman Jesse Hughes, who gets to live out his rock star fantasies here thanks to his old friend Homme.
