Cover Story

Hot Enough for Ya?

We admit it. Last year's Ultimate Summer Fun guide --where we plotted an activity for every mother-lovin' day of the season—was a hit. People stayed out of work en masse to do absolutely everything on our list. Honest. Kaavya Viswanathan and li'l Jimmy Frey told us so. So how could we not do a sequel?

With every summer sequel, though, you have to up the stakes. You need more sex and violence. Violence, Philly has no trouble with. But sex ... Yeah, that took a little more thinking.

Then somebody had the bright idea: swimsuit issue.

Convincing local notables to pose in various states of undress, however, proved daunting. We offered Milton Street a "stunt bottom," but nothing doing. So instead we drove eight local players who are in various hot seats this summer to the Wildwood boardwalk. (Kaavya was there; she'll tell you.) There, a salty old caricaturist with a tattoo on his neck whipped up the works of art you'll see here—straight from real life. We swear.

Anyway, whatever you do during the hazy, lazy, crazy days of our Philadelphia summer, we hope you'll find inspiration for some of it here, be it feasting on roadkill barbecue or celebrating the day North Korea invaded South Korea. Or talking like a pirate until you annoy the living hell out of people.

Or convincing someone close to you to shed a little skin.
