Why So Many?

Productions of My Fair Lady

The rain in Spain falls mainly in the _____. I could've _____ all night. I've grown accustomed to your _____.

Even if you've never watched My Fair Lady, chances are you can fill in the blanks. (Just in case you led an awful childhood, the answers are "plain," "danced" and "face.")

The musical, a classic tale of social transformation based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, has a permanent place in pop history. That might be justification enough for all the MFL plays that are currently floating around. While the Eliza Doolittles in these three nearby productions probably can't hold a Cockney candle to Audrey Hepburn, here's hoping their accents are as working-class as humanly possible.

Wouldn't that be _____? ("Loverly." Duh.)
