Second Annual Stickup
Fri., July 28, 8 p.m.-2 a.m., free, Tattooed Mom's, 530 South St., 215-238-9880
We're on a serious downswing, people. Stop signs are starting to look kinda bare and honor boxes aren't as decorated as they used to be. Even Kingdom of Vegetarians sloshed a fresh coat of paint over the brilliant "Dim Sum Till Death" scrawl in its men's room. We need a fresh crop of harmless vandalism to wake this city out of the summer doldrums, and Tattooed Mom's Second Annual "Stickup" might do the trick.
Event coordinators are asking participants to bring in their sticky graphic illustrations for trading with other designers and collectors. Guidelines are simple: Anything can be used to make the thing stick, but no hazardous aerosol spray-adhesives are allowed inside the bar.
The "adhesive slaughter" of the Stickup should put plenty of fresh ammo in the hands of emblem fiends and street-sign vandals. Or, if that's not your thing, it'll be a fun chance for artists to show their work; Mom's is providing panels for sticking that will be kept on display for a month.
