Naked City

Running Numbers

25 Issue number of Drexel's independent digital magazine Dragonfire that will go live noon, Aug. 22, at www.dfire.org.

32 Number of local artists participating in "The Pressed Image," Art in City Hall's summer printmaking exhibit that runs through Oct. 6 on the second and fourth floors of City Hall, NE corner, and features monoprints, lithography, etching, collography, woodblock, linocuts and combinations of methods and mixed media.

400 Maximum number of fans who will receive free Mardi Gras beads at the Aug. 22 Philadelphia Force women's fastpitch softball game against the Connecticut Brakettes at ECTB Stadium, 1008 South Howard St., Allentown. I was going to complain that their home field isn't actually in Philly, but the fact that it's a Mardi Gras bead night at a women's sporting event where they probably sell beer makes me feel a little better about the potential for a positive result in next week's Bell Curve.

598 .5 Percent of house price appreciation in University City since 1980, as shown in the report "Philadelphia House Price Indices" released Aug. 8 by Wharton researcher Kevin Gillen. According to Hallwatch.org, where the report is viewable, Gillen uses data provided by the Web site to publish the reports on a quarterly basis. You know, Wharton grads, we really don't need quarterly reminders that you can afford that kind of increase.

720 Degrees rotated by AND 1's Taurian Fontenette, aka "Air Up There," whilst dunking a basketball recently. See him along with Philly native and original team member Aaron "AO" Owens at the Wachovia Center Aug. 19 at 7:30 p.m. The free open run, which gives local ballers the chance to play against AND 1 talent, begins at 4 p.m. in the parking lot. I heard the guy who goes by "Running Numbers" is ready to break out his 900 lay-up.
