What We Heart

Stem Sell Research

Published: Aug 24, 2006

Fall flower arrangements, $40 and up, Chartreuse, 1200 Spruce St., 215-545-7711, www.chartreuseflowers.com

Drop those grocery store buds in aisle four and drag your green thumb over to Chartreuse, where owner/florist Mark Mainville uses only the freshest finds to create his floral arrangements. "Fresher means it will last longer," says Mainville. "We are like a good restaurant that changes its menu seasonally."

Chartreuse carries sunflowers and coxcomb from New Jersey and Lancaster County, but also imports roses weekly from Ecuador. The color palette weighs heavily in jewel tones (orange, burgundy and purple), but is spiked with bursts of coral and hot pink. Branches, stems, Celosia berries and other organic elements ensure that no two arrangements look alike.

"We provide the public with what nature has to offer," says Mainville. "And she always delivers."

Comments

Simmply the best flower shop on the planet. Philadelphia should be proud that it has chartreuse with its floral and decoration artists who set trends in the industry.
