PigFest 2006

Published: Sep 14, 2006

Sat., Sept. 16, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., free, Ross Mill Farm, 2464 Walton Rd., Warwick Township, 215-322-1539, www.rossmillfarm.com

Sure, pigs like to frolic in their own shit. And quite a few religions denounce eating them. But if you're like me, you can appreciate the wide-spanning gastronomical uses of these stinky, delicious animals.

That said, it's certainly acceptable to treat the buggers to their own day of fun once in awhile, instead of keeping 'em on the farm to fatten up for slaughter time.

PigFest provides entertainment for you, me and the swine with various activities, including a pretzel-eating contest, a funniest pig hat competition, raffles and an auction. You can even bring a goofy shot of your porker to enter in the Funniest Piggy Picture contest.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my ham and bacon club sandwich.
