Side Effect

Published: Sep 21, 2006

Hip-hop

A few years ago, Side Effect was a name you heard echoing in the local underground. He rocked the hip-hop shows and turned up on team-up tracks with fellow MCs. And then, suddenly, he was gone. Turns out that although he walked away from the scene, he never left hip-hop. During his yearlong sabbatical, Side Effect was busily preparing his third solo effort, Dirt Hustlin', released earlier this month. The album features production from Eyego/Direct, Happ G and Cimer Amor, who produced the collaboration featuring Rasco from the Cali Agents. Side will celebrate Dirt Hustlin' tomorrow with other local notables such as Fel Sweetenberg, Poesh Wonder, Jake Lefco and Reef the Lost Cauze. Maybe we'll be treated to some of that Cauze and Effect lost material?

Fri., Sept. 22, 9:30 p.m., $10, 21 and over, with DJ Rest, DJ I.M. (The Redz), hosted by The Flight Brothers, The Five Spot, 5 S. Bank St., 215-574-0070.
