Before Bart Blatstein enticed bloggers to like his artists' enclave, Northern Liberties had only Ed Farnsworth to tout its virtues. Farnsworth drummer for Napalm Sunday, Ashtabula and Vibrolux before his current stint with Bardo Pond extolled the area's potential as a musical go-to spot with his twice-a-year free outdoor festivals. Now there's the gorgeous Johnny Brenda's to behold with delight. But there's always been Ed. Since 2000, Farnsworth's lured diverse bands to the funky fold despite any lousy conditions. "We're right in the heart of hurricane season," says Farnsworth. "We should be just in time for Hurricane Trindy." On the bill: Vignivitch (a teacher, dentist and publisher covering Motorhead tunes), Fleetwood Mike (Audible members playing songs from Rumors and Tusk) and Phil Moore Browne (the gospel of punk funk preached by Gravy Thomas). Blood Feathers (pictured) Ben Dickey and Drew Mills' sweet ensemble, which Farnsworth calls "Philly rock's greatest hope" will headline. Trust in Ed.
