"Industrial Pop"

Pop art pioneer Andy Warhol is one of his inspirations, and he's painted a Dandy Warhols album cover, but we promise the war ends there. Subversive prank artist Ron English might like to stir things up, but it's for the sake of shattering convention. English packs the punch, and John Puglisi brings it home with "Industrial Pop," a playful look at factory life and working society at Lineage Gallery. "In my more industrial work, factories, smokestacks and bridges are characters living side-by-side with the people of the community. The landscapes and the people start to shape each other," says Jersey native Puglisi. "For this show, I wanted to explore these same relationships with people on vacation down the Jersey Shore." Expats from across the bridge can certainly relate to that kind of imagery. New Jersey in Old City on a Friday night has never looked this good.

"Industrial Pop," opening reception, Fri., Oct. 20, 7-10 p.m., runs through Nov. 19, Lineage Gallery, 21 N. Second St., 215-928-0980, www.lineagegallery.com.

Congrats on your opening John! I'm sure you will be a great success. I love the painting with this article as it tells a story like John said about the exploration of "relationships with people on vacation" in Jersey. Can't wait to see the rest of the collection. Love your darling niece, Hannah Christine :)
