Edward Albee's first play written on a whim while he was still a young New York City Western Union messenger concerns the unlikely meeting between a drifter and a family-minded businessman in Central Park. A series of absurd and unexpected events soon occur. "It's a simple play, just two guys on a park bench," says director Steven Wright of Bckseet Productions. "But it's more than that. It addresses how we treat people and how we view each other as human beings." The Zoo Story typically appears on a double bill because of its short running time (under an hour) and has lately seen fewer stagings. "This is the show we wanted to produce. We decided not to do a double bill because we really want the audience to focus on this play," says Wright. "It has so much to say."
