Tango Fire

Dance

It seems that the tango is everywhere. And why not? The dance, while difficult to properly perform, is super-sexy and great fun to watch. Companies that specialize in this Latin genre are apt to dazzle us with skillful steppin', where a partner's legs cut in, out and around one another with lightning speed and exceptional precision. Tango Fire is no exception — it's got the scissor-leggin' down pat, along with plenty of other impressive moves, including dramatic leg lifts and passionate body presses.

With Tango Fire, however, the dancers are only half of the entertainment. Equal billing is granted to the band Quatrotango, which presents its own brand of musical dexterity by playing fiery rhythms for the movers and shakers

At its root, the show is a historical showcase of tango, from its early origins in Argentine brothels and cafes on through its more modern modes. Go for a little afternoon delight.

Tango Fire, Sat., Nov. 4, 3 p.m., $30-$68, Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St., 215-893-1999, www.kimmelcenter.org.
