Rock/pop
They announced their breakup last winter, but anybody with two ears knows The Snow Fairies are still in love. How else to explain the reunions? First they played live on a radio show. Then they couldn't refuse an indie-pop festival in New England. Sounds kinda romantic, no? Turns out we had nothing to worry about: Not only were these cuties fooling around, they have a baby to prove it. Their third album, Voila!, is a quick, peppy, approachable little creature, full of jangly guitars, head-bopping beats, oh-so-clever storylines and Rose Bochansky's sweet and soaring voice. "Baby Don't Hampton" recalls an earlier, gentler Belle and Sebastian. "(Love at the) Driving Range" warns of falling for the wrong golfer with fuzzy, pretty melodies. "Record Shop" is great to dance to while baking banana bread. The band insists things are over, but they leave behind Voila! available to download for free from their Web site. Arrive on time for Strega, which features ex-members of the defunct Poundsign, an amazing, wussier version of New Order.
Fri., Dec. 29, 9 p.m., $5, with Strega, Tritone, 1508 South St., 215-545-0475, snowfairies.heartonmysleeve.net.
