Doggie Treats from your Kitchen
Sat., Jan. 27, 1-3 p.m., $65

Eema's Kitchen, a grassroots biz focused primarily on teaching kids to cook, is also keen on canines. Eema's owner Lisa Prell has teamed up with Kitchen Kapers to teach doggie parents new ways of spoiling their pups. "We are going to make banana 'pupcakes,' 'bonalicious' bowser bones, and peanut butter surprise," says Prell, who is the mommy of a dachshund named Dodger. Students should bring bone-shaped cookie cutters and a doggie bag. Kitchen Kapers, East Gate Sq., 1341 Nixon Dr., Moorestown, 856-778-7705.

Dinner and a Movie Series
Every Sunday through Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m., $4-$13

Rittenhouse Square's The Cafe—whose sister bar, the Irish Pub, popped up several times in the recent Rocky Balboa—will premiere its Dinner and a Movie series by screening the first five Rocky features over five consecutive Sundays. To get viewers in the Stallone spirit, chef Colleen McAvaddy has mocked up a few themed dishes, including a shaved prime beef pretzel cheesesteak, and a flavored vodka cocktail called the "Rocky Punch." The Cafe, 2011 Walnut St., 215-568-5603, www.thecafe2011.com.

Tria's Fermentation School
Classes run Feb. 8-20, $35-$45

If you still haven't hit the bottles at Jon Myerow's Fermentation School, you're not a true beer or wine whiz. Classes like "Imbibing History," led by Iron Hill's Chris LaPierre, teaches students how beer shapes culture, then offers a chance to sample select brews.

Carol Stoudt's "20th Anniversary Special" commemorates the craft beer movement that she and her husband led two decades ago with the establishment of Stoudt's Brewing Company. And

Drexel food and wine professor Sam Cohen's "Fortified Wine: Only the Strong Survive" is designed to let oeneophiles sample bold port, Madeira, sherry and vin doux naturel. Early registration is highly recommended. Fermentation School, Medical Arts Building, 1601 Walnut St., 215-972-7076, www.triacafe.com.

Sweet Treats Weekend
Sat.-Sun., Feb. 3-4, 12:30-5:30 p.m., free

Longing for a sweet escape? Next weekend, Penn's Landing's RiverRink will be converted into a veritable candy factory. Be on the lookout for cupcake stacking, cookie dough creation stations, lollipop puppets and architectural masterpieces made from icing. Wondergy founder Ken Fink will present a "Sweet Science" talk on the chemical properties of ice cream and cotton candy, and folks from JNA Culinary Arts and Just Born candy company will be on hand to give out free confectionary samples. Sweet! Blue Cross RiverRink, Columbus Blvd. and Market St., 215-925-RINK, www.riverrink.com.

Chili Cook-Off and Winterfest
Sat., Jan. 27, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., $15

When it comes to chili, amateur chefs are seriously competitive. Which is why we want front-row splatter seats at Hartefeld National Golf Club's annual regional competition. Two winners will have their dishes featured on the club's menu, not to mention wicked bragging rights. Attendees can enjoy chili samples, beer tastings, ice carving and a bonfire. Hartefeld National Golf Club, 1 Hartefeld Dr., Avondale, 610-268-8800.
