Quizzo Bowl 3

Published: Jan 30, 2007

For the third round of Johnny Goodtimes' annual Quizzo Bowl, the host-with- the-mostest/roast-master promises to put the "IQ" into "risque" for the first time in the sport's history.

Because face it: Quizzo is the long-reigning king of nerdy gamedom. A battalion of trivia knowledge at your command? In the Internet age, you're just a Google away from such power. Who's left to impress when everyone's impressive? What can Philly's King of Quizzo do to make it different, other than bring the Man in Black David Stone or belly dancers or breakdancers into the fold, as he's done in the past? Or even give away $500, like he does now?

"I've succeeded in many things, but failed in one—to make Quizzo sexy," says Goodtimes. To meet his goal of naughty haughtiness, Goodtimes will strap the always-ribald burlesque of the Bawdy Girls unit and the lewd honky-tonk sounds of the Kenny Gates Trio onto his bill. "For too long, this city has been looked at as more trashy than sexy, a stereotype perpetuated by that Neanderthal eating contest [Wing Bowl, kids]. Trashy has had it too good for too long. Sexy must fight back."
