We've witnessed the Simpsons and SpongeBob SquarePants making sport of it; Lou Reed and Arthur Brown too, though I'm certain they were being serious. But my guess is that no one's going to tackle Philly-by-way-of-Boston's Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" quite like Grover Silcox.
The humorist and dramatic actor has performed renditions of "Heart" for the Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site plenty of times. Plus, he's got the mustache. This all goes nicely with Manayunk Art Center's annual Poe lovefest/birthday celebration. Seventeen years strong, the Center will celebrate Edgar's 198th with Silcox's recitation and a talk by Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia's Elio Frattaroli on Poe's relationship to psychiatry. It's impossible to say how the idea first entered the 'Yunkers' brains, but it haunts them day and night. And maybe there will be cake.
