Every few years, we're introduced to a British singer who uses his or her mouth for not only belting out the trend anthem of the moment, but also blabbing off in the media. (Here's looking at you Robbie Williams, Oasis boys, Geri Halliwell, Ms. Dynamite, Chris Martin and Jay Kay.) That title for 2006-07 belongs to Ms. Lily Allen. The London native dropped out of school for a self-promotional trip, and the tracks she posted on MySpace earned her a meaty record deal. After the angry ex-boyfriend anthem "Smile" started climbing the American charts, Allen decided to try her luck with a full-length, Alright Still (Capitol), released here in late January. Back on her home turf, the album earned Allen several 2007 Brit Award nominations and made her the newest lovechild of Billboard and MTV, which is currently sponsoring her stateside tour. Allen is quoted as saying she doesn't want to be part of a scene and the thought of that makes her sick. Yeah, right.
