For some folks, singing along to Disney songs evokes warm 'n' fuzzy childhood memories. That's what Elliot Jones is hoping for, anyway.
Jones is the founding artistic director of the Rainbow Chorale, a Delaware-based LGBT-friendly chorus that formed in 1999. It has since grown to include approximately 60 members from across the Delaware valley. The Chorale's cabaret will showcase its range with various soloists and small ensembles taking turns singing beloved Disney tunes like "Be Our Guest," "When You Wish Upon A Star" and a medley from Mary Poppins.
"We have something for everyone," says Chorale president Christopher White. "There's probably someone who doesn't like 101 Dalmatians, but they'll love 'God Help the Outcast.'"
Additionally, the singers will be dressed in character to act out the stories behind each song. But what about the special "Rainbow Chorale Twist" that's promised on all the promotional fliers? White is keeping mum: "You'll have to see it to believe it."
Disney Cabaret Fri.-Sat., March 16-17, 8 p.m., $25-$50, Opera Delaware Studios, 4. S. Poplar St., Wilmington, Del., www.therainbowchorale.org
