sketch comedy

Don Montrey's monthly sketch comedy nights at the Khyber, Die Actor Die, are usually smart, topical and silly. But for their first annual Dirtiest Sketch in Philadelphia competition, the players — members of local troupes Animosity Pierre, BAD HAIR, Secret Pants, The Waitstaff and more — are being asked to lower the bar a little. OK, a lot. "I told them to go all out and be as raunchy and filthy as you can," says Montrey. "As the host, it falls on me to set the tone for the night, so I am making my opening pretty graphic with the added twist of being really funny. I hope. God, I hope." But Don, why you wanna work blue? "To be honest, I am not the biggest fan of blue material in general. It's too easy and one-note. However, I love fart and poop jokes and listen to Howard Stern. Life's a mystery." Besides, he says, it changes the stakes when being dirty is the point. So what can we expect? "Laughs, groans and douche chills aplenty," says Montrey. "And if you're not careful, you just might learn something before we're done."
