There are countless ways to celebrate Halloween: trick-or-treating, costume parties, Almond Joy binges, monster mashes. Philly's bitter October weather, however, remains the same. To the relief of Playboy Bunnies and sexy nurses everywhere, Flashpoint Theatre Company offers up "Galaween: A Summer Night's Fright, " a scandalously spooky benefit for their upcoming season.
"So many times Halloween is on a cold day," says Flashpoint producing artistic director Erin Lucas, "and we wanted to do it on a warm day, where you can wear your sexy outfit. We like people to get into it and be creative."
Cheerleaders and naughty librarians can get an early fix of food, drinks, horror movie trivia, raffles, goody bags, costume contests and a performance by the Flashpointer Sisters (the company's spoof of the Pointer Sisters).
Yet, the night isn't just about fishnets and fundraising. "It's a way to meet people," says Lucas. "It sort of brands us as a fun-loving, innovative company."
