But Making Time may've met its match in Simian Mobile Disco. Starting life as a dismal Brit indie-punk band Simian, James Ford and James Shaw had a touch of spiky danz-rock to their spirit. Wisely, the now-famous Justice remix team dropped its guitars and such to become Simian Mobile Disco and start bashing out a brand of boogie-down electro that's a decadent as it is sprightly. Their boldly eerie tracks "It's the Beat" and "Sleep Deprivation" — good as they are — can't prepare you for the poppy positivism of the rest of their debut, Attack Decay Sustain Release (Wichita Recordings). Their dark but giggly music promises to turn Pure into A Night at the Roxbury.
