After winning Guitar Player Magazine's Guitar Hero competition last year, Trey Alexander was reborn. Or his band was, anyway. Years prior, Sonic Lux had some difficulty meshing and fell apart. But the frontman's video game victory ignited a renaissance. "It was just what we needed to get us back in gear. A kick in the pants if you will," says drummer Woody Campbell. So the eclectic quartet of Lancaster jam rockers, who were each doing their own thing in Nashville, Tenn., was reassembled and Sonic Lux was once more. The band says their blend of pop, jam and rock elements has consequently attracted a diverse fan base. "I've seen people anywhere from 11 to 60 years old come out to our shows," says vocalist/keyboardist/bassist Hassan Ali. Alexander figures understanding and appreciating any band is a process. "I think that most music is listened to and then acquired," he reasons. "I know I used to hate tomatoes when I was kid, but now I love them."
