With a laundry list of local and not-so-local options — including Yards, Sprague Farm, John Harvard's and Carlsberg — this annual brewfest is tops in variety and originality. Plus, admission gets you a wristband and commemorative sampling cup. Jenkintown Town Square, Greenwood Avenue and Leedom Street off Old York Road, 215-517-5507.
Football season means tailgate parties, and tailgaters require beer. With this in mind, Cork is hosting its very own parking lot party. Bring your own grills, chairs and Eagles paraphernalia and watch the game on big-screen TVs both outside and inside the restaurant. In between tackles, buy a raffle ticket or grab a cold one at the "Michael Vick Dog Den," where canine-themed brews like Flying Dog, Dogfish Head and Smutty Nose are on sale. (Proceeds benefit the Voorhees Animal Orphanage.) Cork, 90 Haddon Ave., Westmont, N.J., 856-833-9800.
Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster Garrett Oliver's coming to Di Bruno Bros. to place his carbonated spin on the wine-and-cheese traditions of yore. Look forward to Brooklyner Weisse wheat beer and a 2004 vintage Monster Ale, plus cheeses from the U.S., France, England and Italy. Di Bruno Bros., 1730 Chestnut St., 215-665-9220, ext. 237.
Kitchen Kapers hosts tons of youth-friendly cooking events for teenagers who prefer to drool over Giada's panna cotta and not her low-cut T-shirts. Among them is this baking-focused class, geared toward the 12-to-18 set. Elise Henry of Spare Thyme Personal Chef Service lends her talents in this hands-on evening, which includes technique practice and food presentation. Henry will also spend plenty of time on the little things — like the difference between baking powder and baking soda. Remind us again? Kitchen Kapers, 1341 Nixon Drive, Moorestown, N.J., 856-778-7705.
