Time to hang up the polyester and acetate — the green movement has officially infiltrated your closet. accessories and home decor items by both local and international designers.
Just because it's "green" doesn't mean it isn't ultra stylish. Owner Ali McCloud has been careful to choose items that are exciting to tree-huggers and designer worshippers alike. "Everything I picked I think is great and on-trend," she says. "People have come by and said, 'I love that brand, but I was only able to buy it online.' Shopping is always better with the added luxury of being able to try things on." Featured brands and designers — including Loyale, Ecoganik, Stewart+Brown, Rust Belt Jewelry and Del Forte Denim — produce their designs with minimal environmental impact and use natural materials such as bamboo, organic cotton and silk hemp. Future plans include a "recycled rack" of vintage clothing and a "re-fashion service" where patrons can bring in tired dresses, jeans and other articles and have them revitalized by local designers.
Even the decor is a conservationist's dream come true. The hang bars were created from an old collection of walking sticks; the floor is made from recycled wood chips; and the shelving is made from a tree found in a relative's backyard. Try finding that at the mall.
