Only a die-hard dance fiend would likely have the desire to sit through the entire Philly Dance Fest program. That's not a critical assessment, mind you, but rather a statement of fact, because the first act in this production begins at 1:30 p.m. and the last one hits the stage at 9 p.m. In between, there's a cavalcade of performances, including a pre-professional teenage troupe that employs dance to build self-esteem and inspire self-expression (Music & Motion); a trio of emerging choreographers who aim to present a show wrought with "poignant explosions and captivating expressions" (Melissa Chisena, Kate Jordan, Tara Madsen); an ensemble that uses the power of dance and spoken word to instill social change (Danse4Nia); and a veteran local troupe that here creates relationships between performers and six large inflated balls to make conceptual expression of basic human desires (Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Co.). There's plenty more, but, hey, that's why it's called a festival.
