dance
Education can come by way of someone teaching us a thing or two, but it's also great to learn by doing, and that's the idea behind Danco on Danco, an annual Philadanco presentation. The culmination of an intensive training program, the show largely features members of the troupe's apprentice company, though some members of the main corps may participate, as well. Participants of the program handle all aspects of the show, including choreography and production duties. The dancemakers and performers enjoy this because it's an empowering end energizing experience where they can freely challenge themselves and try out new ideas. The training program offers the general opportunity to create works, and at the end of the term, everyone's work is critiqued, and the best pieces make it into this showcase. If the past is any predicator, we can expect a varied slate, and who knows, there could well be a budding professional choreographer just beginning to take flight here.
