Sometimes even lawyers need to let loose, take off the tie and rock out. Lawyerpalooza trades the courtroom for the stage with a showcase of five local lawyer-laced bands: A Band Called M, Pray for Mojo, Brand New Gods, the ProBonos and Class Action.

The event, which originated in Seattle, is debuting on the East Coast courtesy of the Philadelphia Bar Asssociation's Young Lawyers Division. Participants hope it will show off a more creative side of the traditionally stuffy profession. According to Joseph Schwartz of Pray for Mojo, his two roles aren't nearly as different as some might think. "Whether you're in law or in music, it's all about making a connection with people," he says. "Most people see lawyers as boring. But some of us know how to have a good time." Until further evidence is presented, we'll need to see some stage dives.
