The Philadelphia Theatre Company's new home, the Suzanne Roberts Theatre on the Avenue of the Arts — that's what we call Broad Street south of City Hall when something good like this happens — will be celebrated with an Open House on Sunday. Though it's sad that no theater celebrities were called upon to lead the event, CBS-3 talking head Pat Ciarrocchi will launch the afternoon's events with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 1 p.m., followed by tours and entertainment, including a number of fascinating conversations: At 2, Philadelphia Magazine's Carol Saline interviews PTC's visionary producing artistic director, Sara Garonzik, about the upcoming season and the 25 years she's persevered to get here. At 2:30, Kieran Timberlake Associates LLP architect Richard Maimon discusses the creation of Philadelphia's newest state-of-the-art theater (hurrah!), followed at 3 by PTC dramaturg Warren Hoffman and Casting Director Lois Kitz discussing behind-the-scenes details, and by a second round with Saline and Garonzik at 3:30. At 7 p.m. (after sundown, for maximum effect), CBS-3 anchor Angela Russell lights the marquee, adding the Suzanne Roberts Theatre to Philadelphia's bright little Broadway.
