It's snow globe season, and no matter what fancy phone you get as a holiday gift each year, you always remember shaking that useless, transparent trinket until the white glittery particles dance like snowflakes. Walter Martin of Virginia and Paloma Muñoz of Spain certainly never forgot, and their latest collaboration is a tribute to the arctic landscapes of Old Man Winter. The series of miniaturized panoramic photographs and scenic globes hint at the larger stories that led to these tiny figures getting caught in the elements. Each piece was created with remarkable attention to detail and framed in rich metaphors. The desolate, stark settings are meant to depict isolation with a light flurry of hope. Lest you find yourself in a similar situation with Jack Frost nipping at your nose and no Jack Daniels around, you should know that hand-signed globes are available for purchase. More globe-shaking in your future? What are you, 5? That should take the edge off.
Opening reception, Cerealart Project Room Presents Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz, Fri., Nov. 16, Cerealart, 6-9 p.m., 149 N. Third St., 215-627-5060, cerealart.com, martin-munoz.com.
