Elizabeth Santry Note Cards

Everywhere local photographer Elizabeth Santry went, the "urban sublime" would reveal itself. The UArts grad couldn't risk losing or breaking her biggest investment, a professional black-and-white camera, so she took to carrying disposables to capture those times when the city loves you back. "I don't use view finder or crop photos," she says. "So [the image] stays whole, the way it really is."

Santry creates a series of two colorful note cards from the basketball courts, pigeons, bikes and benches she snaps. Her aim is for "real people to be able to collect art, to see the city as art, and be able to afford it." And while they're blank on the inside — making them perfect for anything from birthdays to thank-yous — we suggest sending one to yourself.
