Zombie Escape Plan

Zombies are out for your brains, and yet most people are unprepared for an attack by the undead. How would you treat a zombie-inflicted womb? Where is the closest cemetery? Is a cemetery even a good idea? The Zombie Escape Plan deserves a spot right next to the batteries in the disaster kits of savvy citizens. Chicago-based artist Christine Young's spiral-bound notebooks are full of graph paper, excerpts from medical textbooks and map fragments that would at least appear to be useful in an ambush.

Young, an obsessive recycler, is careful not to destroy anything for her creations. Each clipping is taken from a damaged or unwanted book, and even the blank pages are made from paper discarded by local offices. Which, of course, is better for the environment than it is for you. "The medical information is kind of outdated," she confesses. "If you were looking for something frantically while zombies were coming, you'd be in trouble."
