Jennifer Gurecki packs some serious power in her panties. The California-based teacher and designer is the force behind Pantyline, a collection of underwear with a purpose. Starting with sweatshop-free American Apparel boyshorts and thongs, she screen-prints each design with eco-friendly water-based ink and ships all orders in recycled packaging. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the line benefit Dolphin, an organization that provides free HIV/AIDS education to children in Africa. In the future, Gurecki hopes to have the undies made by women she met in Kenya while doing volunteer work as a graduate student, providing them with an independent income.

In addition to being the most socially conscious garment in your top drawer, Pantyline pieces don't skimp on the sass. One design reads "a woman's place is on top," while "bon appetit" is scrawled beneath a knife and fork on the crotch of a thong. As for Gurecki, she's fond of a pair featuring a vintage bike. "My favorite are the 'Ride Me' ones," she giggles. "I just think that's hysterical."
