Don't let any DIY devotee tell you differently — knitting is damn hard. It takes time, talent and a patient grandmother before you can knock off a lumpy scarf. But embroidery is a simpler story. Artist Jenny Hart breaks down the overlooked craft in her playful, easy-to-use Sublime Stitching starter kits. Stocked with floss, needles, patterns, a hoop and instructions, they come in both a standard version for the casual stitcher and a deluxe for those with some serious tea towels to embellish. Dozens of extra iron-on patterns are also available, and don't include anything on your great-aunt's holiday tablecloth. Our faves are the Kurt Halsey and Roller Derby series, but Viva Las Vegas would make some pretty wild pillowcases.
