Don't assume "stunt casting" when you hear that Manayunk native Robert Prosky shares the stage with his two sons in Arthur Miller's The Price at Walnut Street Theatre. Like his father, John Prosky is instantly recognizable from more than 50 television roles, and brother Andy has numerous stage and film credits.
They play the Franz brothers in Miller's 1968 drama about two brothers — one a successful surgeon, the other an ordinary cop — brought together after many years to dispose of their parents' property (an attic stuffed with four floors' worth of furniture, realized onstage by designer Robert Kramer). Their real-life dad stars as the furniture dealer who stirs up old memories and unresolved conflicts about how the sons reacted to their father's failing fortunes.
Though overshadowed by Miller's undeniably great plays like Death of a Salesman, The Crucible and A View from the Bridge, The Price deserves attention, and Cape May Stage artistic director Michael Carleton's production promises to show why.
