Erin O'Shea, new exec chef of Marigold Kitchen, has a classically Southern way about her kitchen — so grab your darlin' and your favorite bottle of wine. Try roasted beets with spiced pecans and aged gouda for your first course. Homemade gnocchi with collards, bell peppers and lemon-thyme beurre blanc is an entrée option, as is seared salmon with surry sausage, fingerlings and haricot verts. Finish off with a lemon tart topped with apricots and candied walnuts. Marigold Kitchen, 501 S. 45th St., 215-222-3699, marigoldkitchenbyob.com.
The kitchen at Ansill has prepared a four-course prix fixe tasting menu to encourage sharing with your date. The surf-and-turf first course features steak and tuna tartare; French onion soup comes topped with a comte grilled cheese sandwich. Entrée-wise, you're tasked with choosing between a grilled rack of lamb; a New York strip with potato and mushrooms; or scallops with saffron and cream. Dessert sees options like chocolate fondant and raspberry crème brülée. Ansill, 627 S. Third St., 215-627-2485, ansillfoodandwine.com.
Chef Michael Winiesky is traveling up the street from his kitchen at Serrano (20 S. Second St.) to give a cooking demonstration at Foster's. Foster's Urban Homeware, 399 Market St., 215-925-0950, shopfosters.com.
Executive chef Matt Zagorski's five-course Valentine's menu is simply heartwarming. Start with the black trumpet mushroom soup with garlic foam; follow that with lobster salad with watercress, champagne vinegar emulsion and ginger. Braised shortrib angliotti comes out third. For your main, don't miss striped bass over crispy polenta, roasted tomatoes and basil broth. Rouge, 205 S. 18th St., 215-732-6622.
