Two weeks ago I got a note asking why there wasn't much love being thrown the way of Paul Green's School anymore — especially when they're bringing in Butthole Surfer/the last of the Grand Wazoos Gibby Haynes to join them. Had the world forgotten Green and his solo-noodling All-Stars? Or the band who gave the world "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and "The Revenge of Anus Presley"? Naw, mang. We haven't forgotten. Not even if we tried. How do you forget a guy with two films either about his temperamental shtick (Rock School) or kinda-about his temperamental shtick (School of Rock) in a feel-good Hollywood fashion, to say nothing of the fact that Green's got more franchises than Saxby's? And no one's forgotten the maddeningly marauding Gibby, MTV hit ("Pepper") and all. So gather the kids — should we remind audiences that Haynes played with Johnny Depp and Flea in that band, P? — and let Green's wonkiest stand next to hoary old Haynes. This'll be fun.
