Valentine's Day wiped out the freshly opened LOVE Gift Shop, but Robert Indiana fans (and shameless knick-knack collectors) can expect an immediate restocking of amorous souvenirs. Within the Fairmount Park Welcome Center, the store is a response to demand from both tourists and Philly natives looking for LOVE statue merchandise.
While the gift shop may eventually include T-shirts and posters, current keepsakes include glass coasters, magnets, pens, tie tacks, mugs, tiles and shimmery Christmas ornaments — all adorned with the trademark logo. One of the first items to go during the Feb. 14 rush were the red LOVE sculptures, which, according to the staff, are already popular wedding cake toppers for local couples. How brotherly-lovely.
