Reverie

Published: Mar 12, 2008

Fri., 4:30-7 p.m.; Sat., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sun, noon-6 p.m.; 205 W. Girard Ave., no phone, reverievintage.com, reverie.vintage@gmail.com

With cowboy-inspired apparel and books in its window, Reverie is a curious little addition to NoLibs. The tiny but well-designed shop hosts everything from fab '40s designer dresses to hand-sewn, Kurt Cobain-era flannel shirts to kitschy figurines. "We have a motto that everything is on sale except us and our purses," says Jennifer Kelly, one of the five women behind Reverie. "Even the armoire displaying the clothes." The friends started the store not only to fulfill their dream of running a business together, but also as a way to recycle their own goods.

New art (yes, the jack-of-all-trades Reverie also functions as a gallery) and vintage pieces will be revealed every second Thursday, Girard Avenue's answer to First Friday and the only time the shop is open during the week. That is, until we persuade the girls to quit their day jobs.
