Cuckoo For Coconut, Egg Heads?

Consider this sweet stop your new and improved Easter Bunny. Shipped in from LBI's Lucille's Candy Shop, these coconut cream eggs have an unusually thick dark chocolate shell, providing a satisfying crunch on the way to a gooey center. Bite-size won't cut it, so save some time and head straight for the half-pounder.

2 Stutz Candy Co.
7306 Frankford Ave., 215-333-7323

The Northeast likes its Easter candy like it likes its buttercake: two pieces at a time. Stutz offers bite- and chomp-size coconut creamers in milk and dark chocolate, while a 28-ounce egg is available in white chocolate. If your sweet tooth landed you in Mayfair, you can probably handle it.

3 Zitners
Convenience store checkout lines near you, zitners.com

No matter how many candy boutiques and bakeries we hit up, Zitners will always have a place in our baskets. At 1.8 ounces, this super-creamy version is a satisfying snack that can — if absolutely necessary — be shared. The Butter Krak variety gets all the love, but we prefer Zitners' double "cocoanut" eggers.

4 Isgro
1009 Christian St., 215-923-3092, isgropastries.com

These are really more coconut cream amorphous blobs, but mention this to the Isgro ladies at your own risk. Regardless of shape, you'll be scarfing down these dark chocolate bitties on the first available stoop. The coconut center is exactly what you'd expect from the home of the chocolate-dipped chocolate chip ricotta cookie: shamelessly sweet and impossibly dense.

5 Shane Candies
110 Market St., 215-922-1048, shanecandies.com

This Old City candy shop has been turning out sweets since 1876. And while 132 years is impressive, we're more interested in their chicken-defying, 5-pound beast of a coconut cream egg. Buy a pair of stretchy sweatpants and clear an entire weekend to deal with this monster.

I remember when I was a kids growing up in Chester, PA we used to get these coconut easter eggs in our basket that were a white chocolate in pink and green colors. Do they make these anymore. They were so so good. Haven't seen them in years.

Just wanted to let you know that I found a candy website in PA that is Josh Early Candies. They have the pink shredded coconut eggs and the one-pound chocolate eggs that Mr. McMahon referred to.

Found easter eggs similar to one's I grew up with here. They are a little smaller but look the same as the bigger 1lb eggs.
