Astral Concerts has established such a strong presence in the local musical culture that it's hard to imagine that they've been here for only 15 years. Their mission is to find a career foothold for promising young musicians; that so many Astral alumni quickly end up on the rosters of major orchestra schedules and chamber music series is a tribute to the acumen of Astral founder and director Vera Wilson. Astral celebrates the milestone this week in an appropriately grand manner, with several notable alumni taking part in a program of multiple soloist concertos by Mozart and Brahms, as well as Ravel's showy violin showpiece, Tzigane. Rossen Milanov of the Philadelphia Orchestra will conduct Symphony in C (the orchestra formerly known as the Haddonfield Symphony). Soloists include pianists Simone Dinnerstein and Natalie Zhu, and cellist Clancy Newman, all Astral grads.
Fri., April 4, 7:30 p.m., $30, Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St., 215-893-1999, astralartisticservices.org.
