Running Numbers

A scholarly look at the digits that matter.

8 Number of rules of Pillow Fight Club, including the first and most important two: "1. Tell everyone about Pillow Fight Club. 2. Tell EVERYONE about Pillow Fight Club." After that, just keep your non-feather pillow hidden until April 20 at 2 p.m., when the action is set to go down in Love Park, 15th and Market streets. In the words of a user on the message board where the rules were posted, "1:59 is going to be an interesting time for anyone who's not aware of what's going on." (More on this on here.)

18 Number of former track and field athletes who will be inducted into the Wall of Fame during the 2008 Penn Relays, April 24 to 26 at Franklin Field, 33rd and South. Among the inductees is 1969 Villanova graduate Frank Murphy, who was part of the 1968 'Nova team that became the first ever to win five relay championships. Tickets are available at thepennrelays.com or by calling 888-PENN-TIX. Or just say you know Frank at the gate.

20x20 Maximum dimensions in inches of the paintings at the Philadelphia Sketch Club's 145th Annual Exhibition of Small Oil Paintings, which will run through April 27 at the club on 235 S. Camac St. The show was started so artists could display small examples of their works with the hope that larger versions would be commissioned. I, however, look forward to asking if they can make them smaller.

66 Number of Philadelphia parks participating in the Ninth Annual Spring into Your Park cleanup on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A list of participating parks is available here, and those interested in volunteering should call 215-988-8876 or e-mail sstrawbridge@pennhort.org. Love Park's not on the list, but God knows it'll need a good scrubbing after the pillow carnage.

100 Approximate number of works of contemporary art to be featured in a silent auction during the closing reception of HeartWorks, a group exhibition of more than 88 contemporary artists at the ICE BOX Project Space, 1400 N. American St., through April 26. The auction, which will benefit the Mazzoni Center, a health center focused on the needs of the region's LGBTQ community, will occur April 26 from 6 to 10 p.m. Order tickets at inliquid.com/heartworks, and bring a pillow, just in case the auction's too silent. Lots more on this in Arts.

Can I get your digits? I want to hear about the numerals you need to see. Let a number runner know at runningnumbers@gmail.com.
