For as often as we slip into their dresses and get naked in their fitting rooms, we don't know all that much about the people behind our favorite outfits. So we got up close and got personal with nine local designers and boutique owners. We invaded their studios, poked around their stores and quizzed them on everything from music to pets to underwear preference. We followed Josie Outlaw into the bathroom and played in Zivile Pupinyte's jewelry box. We snuck into Shari Roulin's place months before it opens and hung out with Ali McCloud's bulldog. What we found was a group of people as interesting, beautiful and strange as the closets they make possible. Turns out, even the impeccable Elena Brennan has a messy top drawer. And Jamie Campbell makes dinner in the most surreal kitchen in Kensington, if not the city. It took us an entire day trying to decide on our cover shot after straight-up falling in love with Carrie Collins. Saucy dead-on stare or mid-giggle fit? It wasn't easy. And here's the thing, Labold boys: We're crushing on you hard, even after learning what's in your closet. Hair collection or no hair collection, we want your tees up against our skin now more than ever.
