Liberty Rodeo Stampede

Published: May 6, 2008

Thu.-Sun., May 8-11, $20 (per event)-$55 (weekend pass), visit libertygra.org or call 888-321-3603 for complete schedule and locations

Throw in some hunky gay cowboys and a proper dance party, and it turns out we're quite interested in this whole rodeo thing. Hosted by the Liberty Gay Rodeo Association, the inaugural Liberty Rodeo Stampede features three days full of events, both bronco- and nightlife-oriented.

The weekend kicks off Thursday night with a bar crawl, followed by Friday's Homo Rodeo meet and greet at Bike Stop and Bearapalooza at Loews. The actual stampeding begins on Saturday and continues through Sunday at the Devon Horse Show grounds. Events include calf roping on foot, steer riding, team roping, goat dressing, barrel racing, bull riding and, for the aesthetically inclined, steer decorating. Proceeds will benefit organizations such as the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund, Mountain Meadow and the William Way Center.

In honor of Mother's Day, Sunday is family day. All fans under 18 will be admitted free when accompanied by a parent or guardian, and there will be games and activities for aspiring cowboys and girls.
