If you're looking for a little something to spark up a boring neckline or make nice with your favorite pumps, Zivile Pupinyte's jewelry isn't for you. With bold lace, leather, chains and stones, the Lithuanian-born designer's pieces can't help but become the focal point of every ensemble. Not that we're complaining — if there is a more worthy headliner than her new spring line, Jewelry for Daring Women, we haven't come across it yet. You can get first dibs on Pupinyte's latest necklaces and cuffs at A Night of Fruition, a party that also celebrates the third anniversary of Francesca Rivetti's hair salon, Follicle. In addition to shopping, the evening includes music by DJ Bill Gat and nibbles by Naked Chocolate.
Now that it's spring, craft fairs are popping up every couple of minutes. But the grandmamma of all DIY marts is back, and she didn't bring any half-assed bedazzled American Apparel merch. Now in its fifth year, the Art Star Craft Bazaar is taking over Penn's Landing for an entire weekend of one-of-a-kind shopping and credit card debt. More than 150 local and national artists will be showing off everything from fine art to cheeky plushes, some of which you may have seen in Art Star's giant new gallery and shop on Second Street. Must-grabs include whimsical playthings from Owly Shadow Puppets; Lisa Hurwitz prints; monster purses (monster purses!) by Locha; and Brookadelphia's witty, chunky pendant necklaces. We'll be devoting our undivided attention to new Bunny Butt Apothecary bath goodies, but a full roster of live music includes sets by Falkonr, Emily Bate and Holly Billaday.
After damage from a fire at Hancock Square forced Danni's to relocate, this NoLibs boutique is back and better just across the street. Like the clothing, bags, housewares, jewelry and lingerie owner Claudine Smith carries, the new space on Liberties Walk is effortlessly warm and sophisticated. Bright orange walls and hardwood floors create an eternally breezy, summery atmosphere, and a lounge area equipped with magazines and a flat-screen TV provides a place to cool your high heels. Make it over by May 31 and you'll score 15 percent off your first purchase. It won't be an easy decision, but we suggest the retro-inspired, gimme-a-Manhattan Kanvas frocks. And maybe a Monrow tee. Not that a Sheri Bodell dress would hurt your summer brunch plans. You'll need some time for this one, ladies — grab some sustenance at The Little Candy Shoppe and give boyfriend the afternoon off.
