Time is running out to celebrate June as National Adopt-A-Cat Month, created by the American Humane Association in hopes of finding more than 1 million homes for stray and neglected meow-meows. National Adopt-A-Cat Month is honored across the country, including right here in Philly.
This Saturday, the PSPCA is hosting Books and Buddies, an afternoon where guests are encouraged to peruse the latest titles at the Santore Branch of the Free Library as well as the cutest purrers. On the same day, Philly PAWS is holding a Super Adoption Day with plenty of furry soul mates, including White Sox (pictured). Hundreds of cute and cuddly critters will be on hand to meet-and-greet with hopeful pet parents, and there will be trained PAWS volunteers to give one-on-one advice regarding animal adoption and care.
According to the American Humane Association, cats do more than provide cute companionship — they've also been shown to lower blood pressure and help prevent heart disease. Just a couple more reasons to embrace your inner cat lady.
