Painter-turned-guitarist Matt Taylor likes his music like he likes his weather — crisp, dark, autumnal. Whether you've found the Doylestown native on his lone solo effort, 2002's Relay, or through the work of his creaky tweaky band, Aderbat, everything Taylor does has the feel of a late October night when the air is first turning cold. His deep, smoky voice seems to blow smoke rings through the evening's breeze while his angular guitar sounds follow suit. Aderbat's newest CD, We Belong to the Sea, is still as richly ethereal and slowly pulsating as anything they've done in the past. But there's a nervously rock-ish jitter to the cello- and horn-filled proceedings — as if someone woke the ghost of Nick Drake and let him run wild. Smartly romantic stuff.
