South Jersey's Tortilla Press Cantina is holding a four-course Mexican dinner with different tequila cocktails accompanying each dish. Expect gazpacho with a tequila cucumber cocktail, three-cheese-stuffed chili rellenos with tomato cilantro sauce and a sage/pineapple martini, and a Mexican berry trifle for dessert with Jose Cuerva La Reserva to finish things up. Proving once again that Philadelphians never think twice about opening up their wallets for Marc Vetri-brand magic, Osteria will host a luxurious celebration of Sardinian food. Five courses will be complemented by wines from the island off the west coast of Italy; co-owner/sommelier Jeff Benjamin will lead a presentation on the region's culinary history. In support of the legions of people directly and indirectly affected by breast cancer, Bust Out! has orchestrated a partnership of area restaurants and cafés for a day of charity-based grubbing. (Half of all proceeds go toward Haverford-based org Living Beyond Breast Cancer.) Twelve eateries will offer special breast-inspired appetizers and desserts for the day: A Full Plate Café's cold watermelon soup and Bar Ferdinand's duck breast with orange juice demi-glace are just two examples. In August, McCrossen's monthly wine tasting series will focus on summer whites perfect for the endlessly sweltering weeks ahead. Two of the tavern's wine reps will host and lead a discussion on the international vinos on offer — an Italian Prosecco, an Australian Grenache Shiraz Rosé and a Spanish Albariño, among others.
