Restaurateur Marty Grims (The Moshulu) is unveiling the second location of his Du Jour Gourmet Market (the original's in Haverford) this Friday, Aug. 22, on the ground floor of the spiffy Symphony House at Broad and Pine. The 100-seater, which has a liquor license, is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. "Everything's below $20, which gives people an opportunity to try a lot of items," says Grims. And try them we will: How about the fantastic-sounding foie gras PB&J (foie gras mousse, toasted brioche, huckleberry jam, plum ginger caramel)?
This Southwestern concept from The Bayou's Joe Abruzzo and Joe Jowett will debut next Wednesday, Aug. 27. Expect about 60 different tequilas behind the 23-seat stone bar, which'll specialize in handcrafted cocktails. Jowett's fresh-focused menu's got your guac, fajita and quesadilla cravings covered, but it also delves into some atypically fun Tex-Mex stuff (pulled pork with sweet mashed carrots, BBQ shrimp).
David Katz recently hooked us up with some great details on his casual new American, which should be ready to go come September. All the food will fall into three categories — small plates/appetizers, larger stuff ranging from $15 to $25 and entrées designed for two to share. Opening menu items will include beef tartare served with salty potato chips and quail egg; and sautéed skate with eight-hour tomatoes, tapenade and caper brown butter.
Also up for September is Bar 210, a new addition to Lacroix. The space, which will hold court on an elevated portion of the dining room, will feature a 10-person green granite bar, four two-person cocktail tables and leather floors. Exec chef Matthew Levin is designing a bar menu in addition to working with staff to build a high-end cocktail list. A bonkers wine list is in store, too, of course.
