Gyeong Moon ran a doughnut and cheesesteak shop in her native Tulsa before relocating to West Philly and opening the three-week-old Crispy Sweetie popcorn and sweets shop. Popped-on-the-premises kettle corn's the main snack here — but Moon also does sweet (cinnamon, blueberry, grape, cherry) and savory (jalapeno, cheddar) popcorn flavors, old-school treats (licorice, Slap Sticks, candy cigarettes) and assorted Asian confections (she carries the elusive strawberry Pocky).

2101 Chestnut St., 215-568-3355

Victor Fellus, former owner of Old City's Soho Pizza (218 Market St.), introduced this café/pizza parlor/bar/restaurant two weeks ago. The menu boasts a strangely eclectic assortment of goodies — queso fundido, spanakopita and edamame appetizers; nicoise salads, four-cheese penne and all sorts of pizzas; a small international wine list and a beer lineup that includes both Chimay and Bud Light.

Café Clave
4305 Locust St.

Armen "Gooch" Terzian, who ran Café Clave from 2003 to 2004, says he's bringing back his Cubano-flavored coffeehouse, in its original location, in about a month's time. (The space was home to the Other Green Line until this summer, when that café moved to 4426 Locust.) Lavazza espresso, Torreo coffee, a Cuban-inspired menu and live music are all in the works. Terzian's looking for musicians to session at the café when it opens: If you're interested, you can reach him at thegooch325@yahoo.com.
