Fall's been doing its thing for awhile now, but October is the official beginning of outerwear season. (Sorry, September, but you were a bit warm. Muggy, even. It was gross.) Grasshopper's autumn sale, which runs through this Friday, is making your new boots even better with 25 percent off sweaters and jackets for both ladies and gentlemen. Included are everything from lacy little boleros to big chunky knits to foxy leopard-print cardigans. Prematurely entered hot-chocolate-under-the-afghan mode? Fair enough — the discounts are also available from the comfort of your sofa in their online shop.
There's a lot to like about Arcadia's one-year anniversary makeover, but the new shoe collection is at the top of the list. (Seriously people, there are no shoes north of Spring Garden. Don't make us wear these flip-flops one more weekend.) In addition to the usual vintage offerings, the NoLibs boutique is now carrying styles by Dolce Vita and animal-friendly label Olsenhaus. Try on a pair with something from the expanded sale racks or snuggle up in the new fall merch, which includes many of the store's signature eco-friendly pieces — it's amazing how much better you'll look sans last year's worn-out flats.
Reward has only been kicking for a couple weeks, but the new Old City boutique is already throwing a proper party. Cheeky Brooklyn synth poppers Chairlift are coming down for an in-store show next weekend complete with Sailor Jerry Rum drinks and plenty of new fall and winter finds. (Owner Shari Roulin says she's still getting new pieces each week.) Nothing fashionable about showing up late — it's going to be a tight, sweaty fit in this space. Now, how long until we stop singing "I tried to do handstands for you" to strangers?
The Independent Craft Market lives! After resurrecting once for the Give Festival, they're back with monthly Saturday shows through December. (The other dates are Nov. 8 and Dec. 6.) Vendors include Nicole Rae Styer, Jesse Rinyu, the Farmer's Daughter and Boto Designs. Welcome back, zombie market!
